Welding Generator Guide — AC 180A/220A and DC 130A/160A
KIGERPOWER welding generators combine a welding power source with auxiliary AC power output in a single engine-driven package for site fabrication and field repair. The AC series covers 5500W / 180A and 6800W / 220A units in open frame (KG-W180AD, KG-W220AD), silent canopy (KG-W180AD-S, KG-W220AD-S), and petrol OHV (KG-W180AG, KG-W220AG) variants. Rated welding voltage is 22-38V on diesel-driven models and 22-32V on petrol models, with current adjustment ranges of 50-210A and 70-250A, and electrode capability from 1.6mm to 4.0mm. The DC series adds a permanent-magnet alternator for auxiliary use: KG160A and KG200A deliver 130A welding current with 2.0-3.2mm electrodes, and KG300A delivers 160A with 2.0-4.0mm electrodes plus 4.7kW rated AC output. All models are single-phase 220V at 50Hz with power factor 1, automatic voltage regulation, and an oil sensor.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the AC and DC welding generator models?
The AC series (KG-W180AD, KG-W220AD and variants) uses a conventional alternator and delivers 180A or 220A at 22-38V. The DC series (KG160A, KG200A, KG300A) uses a permanent-magnet alternator, delivering 130A or 160A at 2.0-3.2mm or 2.0-4.0mm electrodes, and additionally provides auxiliary AC output.
Which welding generator is quietest?
The petrol OHV models KG-W180AG and KG-W220AG are specified at 75dB and 78dB at 7 meters. The silent canopy models KG-W180AD-S and KG-W220AD-S are fully enclosed, while the open-frame diesel models measure 83dB and 86dB.
Can the welding generators also supply power for tools?
The AC models are welding-focused. The DC series provides auxiliary output alongside welding: KG160A and KG200A deliver 1.0kW continuous, and KG300A delivers 4.7kW rated AC output, all from a 220V single-phase supply at 50Hz.
What electrode diameters can these machines weld?
The 180A and 220A AC models accept 1.6-4.0mm electrodes, with the 220A models suited to 2.5-4.0mm. The DC KG160A and KG200A accept 2.0-3.2mm, and the KG300A accepts 2.0-4.0mm.
